The Off Sunset Festival is much more than a leather-clad, booze-soaked, rock ‘n’ roll bacchanal.  And it is no accident that the Off Sunset Festival takes place at Sunset Junction, once home to the Black Cat gay bar and site of the historic New Year’s Eve 1967 riots against the LAPD.

Inspired to give back to the neighborhood in thanks to Silverlake’s vital place in LGBT history, the spirit of philanthropy is at the core of the festival’s mission. Said OSA member Hunter Fox, “There is so much history in the Silverlake area with music and the LGBT community. From the neighborhood-uniting mission that inspired Sunset Junction to the Black Cat being declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, we have seen much strife turn to progress in our community. We want this to be a celebration of who we are, where we live and how far we’ve all come together.”
